I have finally got my hotel sorted so hopefully I'm ready. Flying out Thursday from Heathrow. Staying at the Paramount in Times square, 5:30 Staten island ferry. 1st Wave, Orange start. Trying for a 3:30 finish. Please add me to your list and I'm going to be really up for a pint after the race!
Just to add one more thing for folks to think about, I booked my hotel 3 months ago through an agency which I have always found is the cheapest way to go. However I have turned up twice at a pre booked hotel who have never heard of me. So I sent an e-mail to the New York one yesterday to confirm and warn them I would be very late arriving. They replied that they had no record of my booking. Good job I checked as I now have 2 weeks to sort it out or find an alternative. The thought of sleeping in Central Park I can now add to my list of flu, injury and the bridge falling down. May be worth anyone else who has arranged their own trips and used a booking agency to contact the hotel directly just to be sure.
Hi all, can I become the laggard of this thread. I've only just found it but better late than never. I am doing NY as my third marathon ( Vienna and Windermere) and got in through a good for age place, one of the few benefits of ageing. I am travelling over on the 29th and returning on the 2nd and hopefully have an hotel in Times square, booked via an agent so I must check as I've been caught out with that twice before. Travelling alone as the family were underwhelmed with the amount of time left availible for fun after the whole number pickup, friendship run, route checking etc. Did my last 22 mile run on Sunday and am thankfully into taper mode. Hoping for a 3hr 30' finish but realistically 3hr 40'. Now comes 2 weeks of shorter runs and panicking about injuries and germs!
