I'd really like to have a go at a tri next summer partly beacuse I've been injured on and off since January and have had to increase my swimming and cycling to keep the weight off.
Can anyone recommend a novice-friendly first event in the West Country? I can manage 13 miles on a bike and regularly swim 1000m. Should I go straight for a sprint or a novice event? And can you get away without buying all the kit? I don't want o buy a load of kit and then find I hate it!
You've probably answered all these question somehwere else in this thread or on the forum, so sorry if I'm repeating earlier contributions.
I've been feeling a tightening of my calf after about 3-4 miles on recent runs. I'm pretty sure it's not torn as there's no real pain, but the tightening is enough to slow me down. I stopped running about 10 days ago to give it time to recover, bought some new shoes, but how much longer should I rest up? The web advice seems a little contradictory. Some say keep running with a support, others say rest 7-10 days, and others say lay off running for 3-4 weeks. Anyone wnatt o pick a figure or even throw in a new one?
