Over the last 2 years I have been recovering from alcohol addidction and running has been the backbone of this recovery. My first half mile took me half an hour but I found that quite quickly I was getting better. I would run quite late in order to help me stay away from the pub which I am pleased to say worked a treat,by the time I finished running ,I couldnt walk let alone get to the pub.
Since those early days I have competed in numerous 10ks 20+ half marathons and four full marathons (4hrs 25mins). The running has also allowed me to loose four stone in weight and qualify as a personal trainer with my own studio helping other alcoholics recover using running and exercise.
I find now however that i have lost focus on my own training and believe that with this superb chance I can achieve even more and help show others recovering that anything is possible. Stopping drinking is great but sub four hours might be better!!!!!
