I had the same problem and taping worked a treat for me as well. Physio also gave me exercises to build my quads and glutes which apparently were too weak to hold the knee cap in place. Too late for london but certainly worth doing as I am now knee problem free. As for my hip.....
I've got symptoms that sound very much like bursitis - hip gets sore on longer runs and for a few days afterwards though It was very sore (so I could not run at all) after the MK half. I've done the same as you on the cross trainer to try and keep the fitness up. I've had a month off any serious running but am just trying to wind up again to make sure I can manage the distance before tapering down again.
I've done London 3 times before, each with various ailments. My advice is paracetamol, ibobrufen, a couple of strong espressos and then just keep it slow and steady and just enjoy the day. With any luck the adrenaline and painkillers will carry you round and you can sort out the bursitis afterwards. Since it's your first time you're guaranteed a PB but also set yourself an easy target for next time.
