I have done the 10K for the past couple of years, I am having a go at the half this year. Looking forward to it but have to share PLS’s reservations about having to be there before 8.00 am. It’s a pity the half can’t start at the showground along with the other races as it does tend to spoil it for family and friends who now need to hang around at the site for several hours more than they need to, but that said there are plenty of activities and stuff to do while they wait! But maybe the organisers could look at this for future events. But as I say really looking forward to it, it’s a great event, and the organisation is excellent every year. So here’s hoping for fair weather and good luck to everyone, runners and organisers alike. |

Jay – I took some money out of my pension scheme recently too, in this economic downturn I imagine a huge proportion of businesses did the same. Anyway, as I said, I am more than happy, as a resident of this city, with the council to whom I pay my taxes and how they support a private business like Run Liverpool. If you are not happy with the way they are spending your taxes then I suggest you do something positive, stop posting on here and send an email to Liverpool City Council instead. I would suggest that anyone else who lives outside of the city and wants to tell us and the council how to spend our money do the same. |

You are missing the point – you are on every other thread stating that the council won’t support you; they do support you by allowing road closures etc, and if they didn’t you wouldn’t have a job and we wouldn’t have any races so be grateful to the council on both counts – end of. I don’t care how much you do or don’t make, what salaries people are paid, what the operating costs or profits are, but what I do care about is the fact that you are permanently trying to whip up bad feeling against the council complaining that you can’t get any support. If you are trying to raise the profile of the city as you say, then you should be focusing on the positive aspects of the support you get from the city as previously stated and through Liverpool Active City etc. If pointing out reality is negative then that’s what I am, but I would disagree, I will give credit where it’s due, when I see it, similarly I won’t stand back and see misinformation and be bandied around without a challenge. James – your point is moot as most of the races don’t finish in the city centre so there is no economic benefit to people gathering on New Brighton Prom or in Sefton Park. Get on with organising races and stop slagging off the council and residents of the city and you might get more local people involved in the runs. |
