The weather can be interesting at the end of November. The 1st time (2007) it chucked it down for the first 10 mins then brightened up so much that I was almost dry be the end, apart from the sweat of course!! The 2nd time (2008) it was -1°C with freezing fog. I finished with ice in my hair!! Still, least it wasn't windy.
If you can do it in less than 52:11 the win's yours, I'll have to do a PB to go faster.
Thanks for the information guys. I was told when I gave blood that blood volume was indeed replaced quickly (approx. 24hrs) but the body takes much longer to replace the red blood cells. As it's the red blood cells that transport the oxygen to the muscles it's this replacement time that I'm interested in. But I can't find any information out there (I've only been searching the internet mind!!) that's specific to red blood cell preduction/replacement.
Thanks mb, but there's nothing really specific relating to the effect of blood donation on hard cv workouts. I'd be interested to know how long it takes the average person to fully recover (in terms of blood content) after giving blood. Anyone had any sucess in finding this sort of information?
The entire route is on the road/hard roadlike surface. The only sand you're likely to come across is the any that has been blown onto the course. Which in Blackpool is quite likely but it'll only linger at the curbside.
As for problems going from off-road to road running, if road running doesn't agree with you, you'll just run slower. But you'll still have a great time and more of it to enjoy the event.
