Having read alot about the Bristol Half Marathon, both good and bad, I was quite surprised to read in your article that 15,000 runners started the race, 9,000 runners finished. Being fairly new to running, is a drop out rate of 40% typical for a race? It seems quite high.

Hi Pops, I don't think we will be oversubscribed so there won't be a problem getting a place.

Coming from the M4 / Swindon, head across country to Trowbridge then follow the signs to Frome on the A366. This will lead you to the Frome by-pass, and follow the signs for the A361 (Shepton Mallet / Glastonbury / Taunton direction). Keep on the bypass around Frome, until you reach a mini-roundabout at the top of a hill, which is the junction with the A361. Follow the signs to Shepon Mallet etc, basically heading west. After a couple of miles you reach a large roundabout with a servce station, Nunney Catch. Keep straight on, past Holwell Quarry, and half way up the hill is a turning to the right, signposted Mells and with a sign to the Talbot Inn.

Take this turning, and follow this road for a couple of miles, ignoring all turnings, past Whatley Quarry and eventually to a T junction. This is the turning to Mells. Turn right, and after a couple of hundred yards there is a turning on the left for the village centre. There is a road closure in place on the day, and marshalls will be in place to direct runners to the start.

Hi. I am a member of the Frome Running Club who are organising this race. This is the first year we have held it, and the route passes through some beauthiful countryside. The start will be well sign posted on the day, and if you need some directions on how to get to Mells post a reply (with an indication of which direction you will be coming from) and I can give some specific details.

Look forward to seeing you on the day!

Tony

I had pre-entered this event, but unfortunately, due to road closures in the town, this event has been cancelled.
