I'm in too, please. I'm also suffering from one of lifes marathon mysteries. Running near to 500 miles in training for VLM and not loosing a pound. Ok, might of lost an inch or so but a few pounds also sneaked on. Just cant get out of the carbo loading mode and I seemed to have spent this week celebrating with food. Would love to loose about 10lbs. Got a couple of races coming up in the summer and for some strange reason yet to be explained I entered the October Amsterdam Marathon earlier today!! Tuesday it is then. BS |

So many questions and decisions to make and we all hope that we make the right ones, especially for me as this will be my first ever marathon. I'm impressed with your mileage so far. This Sunday and next weekend were both going to be 20 milers for me then taper down for the last 3 weeks. So far I've done 2x17, 1x18, 1x19. Granted my schedule for next weekend should be 16 miles but I wanted to get in another long run. My club captain who gave me my schedule says there shouldn't be any problem with doing a 20 miler next weekend with 3 weeks to go. He's also banned me from running this weekend!! And keeps saying there is no need to panic, however, that's easier said than done! I suppose its all down to how you feel and you still have another couple of days to recover until Sunday. |

Hey there Maracuya, Hope you continue to feel and get better. I'm in the same boat. i had a cough lurking for about a week and after running my LSR on Sunday (21st) it came out with a vengence! I've not run since and saw the doctor today who prescribed the same antibiotics. No sore throat surprisingly but i have a hacking cough which keeps me awake at night and no doubt my neighbours too!! I am meant to be running a 20 miler this Sunday but however hard it is to give in to my sensible head I am going to give it a miss. There is still plenty of time and its all about the 25th April. You seem to be further down the road to recovery than me but I going to err on the side of caution and give myself time to recover and I will do the 20 miler the following weekend. It will be interesting to see what the running docs say though. At least the lergy has struck now and not in 4 weeks time!! Here's to a speedy recovery. |
