howdy. I had a pretty good day. Was tracking to about 3:36 for the first 20 miles but struggled from there on - my splits fell off a fair amount. The crowd pretty much dragged me in. Ran a 3:44 which I'm happy with - not quite the 3:30 that Chris thought I was capable of but under my original 4 hour goal so all good. 3:30 becomes the plan for Abingdon in October. It did get a little warm out there but I still loved it
Not sure how but I managed to miss you guys - didnt see the PP flags! Was a bit delirious around that point as the heat started to get to me. Hope you had a good day anyway and thanks for supporting us all. What a race that is I have to say. great support and seamlessly organised (plenty of water!) - a huge heap of fun (apart from the last few ks). Off to eat my bodyweight.....man that pavlova looks good
Those are the ones - I think its a trend that is likely to catch on! Just bought the recovery socks from the Expo as well. On that note still no news on a live runner tracking site like last year - assuming they arent doing it at all given its not set up yet but we'll see.
if you are after sparkly shoes my racing flats have very fetching sparkly laces. While I tell people they aren't really me I secretly love 'em. They are Mizuno Mushas - maybe the ladies' ones are pink
Afternoon Alex. Hope you are recovering from the heat. Be great if you could give me a yell (or prefeably a push). I am number 43936 and will be in a turquoise vest (with my name on), white cap and calf guards.
Tapering is horrible - feeling very unfit and lethargic but hoping its a trick of the mind. I have kind of forgotten what shape I am in as well and am also eating anything I can get my hands on. Went to the expo today and have everything I need so no turning back now........actually I cant wait!
How on earth can they run out of water? And it doesn't seem that even got it close given the major part of the field would have finished behind you. Really poor - the guys coming in at 5 hours must have had a truly horrible time. That race report makes your performance even more impressive - you were tenacious going up that hill in the Chilterns but thats a whole new level. Cant imagine finishing in those circumstances so very well done again - and you look pretty fresh in the photo in spite of it all!
There is usually a tracking service at London but no details seem to be available yet - I'm assured its a last minute things though and that we will discover all at the Expo.
Enjoy the cookies - is it wrong I am quite a bit jealous?! Sticking to my brown rice.....
