I’ve entered the Cabbage but will be (literally) miles behind many of you.
PMJ – how fast do you realistically think you could get round there at the moment? I was going reasonably well (for me) early in the summer but things came to a grinding halt (literally) when I ran in to that medical car back at the 1st Yateley of the season and since then I’ve not really run a full-hearted road race to test where I am. Sunday’s Swallowfield 10k should be a decent marker, perhaps if I can run 39 or so there I might be able to run sub 65 at the Cabbage.
Yep, well done today PMJ. That little hill is quite sapping the 2nd time around, I think the key to running a fast time is to be absolutely hanging at 4k as the last km sections itself up quite nicely in to manageable chunks, is partly downhill and is (finally) on a firm surface.
What cheeses me off is the fact that you turn up on a day when there's no fast boys out at all!! Some kind of tracking system in place? I was half expecting Dachs to turn up actually but I see he hammered the field elsewhere as part of a longer run. Impressive. You could be leading home the TVXC races if you fancy them this time.
I think many people are trying different ways to make a similar well-meant point SG. I guess the reality is though that even the most dedicated couldn't get themselves up and out of bed to do a routine* 10 miler most days so deep down you must be enjoying it really. Just don't get in a rut....
* sub 7 10 milers at silly am are far from routine for most of us!
