Brief Running History: Up to my late teens I was an intermittent county sprinter but like many others the lure of beer and boys proved too strong and I retired disgracefully! Next the lost years - doing very little running other than failed attempts to start sprinting again (awful!). I braved Race4Life in 2006 and kept dabbling running 2 miles here and there. Then bam the running bug hit me ... in July 2008 I decided 'I'm doing the GNR' and I did (2.05 not bad for 3 months training) - and now I'm hooked!!! Next quest (if successful) - the FLM and a chance to achieve a childhood ambition I didn't think I'd have an opportunity to fulfil.
Why train me: I worked to the RW training programme avidly in preparation for the GNR and improved rapidly. But I need more to get me through the difficult winter months and motivate to not to give up when all I want is a glass of wine and X-Factor fix. Training as a member of the Lucozade Super 6 team would give me that one-to-one coaching and support, push me to improve faster, stretch my goals and help me with my nerves and nutrition strategy (i.e. occasional tears and lots of food) both of need controlling! As a relative newcomer I hope my blogs will inspire others to keep going and hopefully raise some sympathy laughs.
Predicted marathon time: 4.15 - 4.30 (maybe less with the right direction and mentoring).
