Forecast, at this stage, looking ideal! I did a nice 35km yesterday as not really tapering for this and found it fairly warm near the end - id reccomend a tad bit of extra salt in the diet this week to help avoid cramp if it is hot....

Also, anyone firing down some pro plus tablets, no coffee / coke (inc. diet) etc  etc this week for max impact on sunday - it really does make a difference!!

Hope everyone has a good week!!!

Richard - agree totally - ive done it for the last two years and been a bit too worried about time  - will be nice to run round and soak it all up!!! Switz will be my first full IM, ive done a fair few half's which are great!

Id highly reccomend triathlon / duathlon in general to be honest - multisport events offer great variety to the monotomy (for some) of single event training and often runners find the cycling benefits their running anyway!

Duathlon (run / bike / run) for instance may suit you really well as a strong runner - it is effectively a running race (with a variety of distances) and could benefit your marathon training in the future!

If your interested id be more than happy to talk more about what it entails. Training is hard and im trying to stick to around 15 - 17hrs a week which with a full time job is tough and friday nights just arent the same when you have 4+ hrs on a bike to do the following morning!

Perhaps catch up after the marathon to speak more!

Good to see everyone last Wed - sorry i couldnt hang around to chat afterwards. Good idea to meet up on race morning!

Training hasnt been great for me over the past few weeks unfortunately....tendonitus problems in my right ankle and a dodgy ITB means i just cant do too many longer runs. Also trying not to over do the running with Switz Ironman the main goal in July so London is looking more and more like a training run (!?!?) which is a shame... On a positive note I PB'd my 10km time in a tri on Saturday so not all bad!!!

Sounds like everyone is going really well - Richard, very impressed with your times and i hope your taper goes well towards the 2:45!!! Neil, congratulations - certainly no pulling out but even more reason to slip a few beers down at the Stafford afterwards!

By the way, i spoke to Julie about a potential Ice bucket at the Stafford - the difference in recovery time  5 / 10mins in ice bath / bucket makes after a marathon is huge.....any news on that lisa?? My office is just around the corner so i could potentially sort something out??
