McH- I doubt your smart phone will last that long if its tracking your route. GPS calculations seem to be hungry for power
I use a 310XT and it lasts 12hrs. It might not have all the fancy functions of the more expensive Garmins but it is waterproof, comes with HR monitor (check this is included in the really cheap offers, if it is important to you) and can be used for multisports. Plus its got a nice big display for my ageing eyes
Debra- I'm sure that's a sensible decision. Once the fracture has begun to unite, you can usually do some form of exercise especially as pelvic ones are less risky/ worrying than femoral ones. Its now got a month to get healing!
I did the Oxon 40 yesterday- what a fab race! Just so beautiful running through the beech forests of the Chilterns, with carpets of bluebells and just enough sun to keep us warm but not too hot. I ran it with a couple who had done Comrades last year (she got a Bill Rowan) so I pumped them for info! I had my badge on my Salamon pack and saw one other Comrades cap and met one lady from this forum (whose name i can't recall ) at the start. I did it in 7:37 and think i was 4th overall, but due to the quaintness of LWDA, I'll need to await the results.
Been busy with work and sorting out Abingdon marathon, but really enjoyed spectating at VLM on Sunday for the 1st time. I was supporting Mrs OS on her 1st marathon, having deferred my place and went to the expo with her. Just hearing hearing the marathon music just gets the ticker beating faster! Sorry McHilly, I didn't see you even though i should have spotted your club vest- there were a fair few runners to watch mind! My son, standing next to me, was in charge of the club flag and he sometimes got bored waving it so you have passed during a "down" time! I even managed to miss my club mate knocking an hour off the women's record for a 3 legged marathon- how did I do that??
Debra- so sorry to hear the news. They usually want you to stress fractures for a month or two I think. Looking forward to meeting those doing the Oxon 40 tomorrow- I'll pin my badge on the back of my salomon pack
Well done on the Manchester runners results. Mr K-did that move you up pen? For me, having got over last weekend's 33 mile run in the Lakes, I did a 2hr run yesterday, then 65k on my bike today and an 11 miles walk with the family this afternoon.
