I had a cortisone injection in my knee for itbfs, I have to say its been amazing - I ran the next day no problem but the effect of the cortisone took 2 weeks to kick in and that's when I could run pain free.
Is your foot causing you pain and are you hoping the injection will take the pain away To enable you to run the marathon?
Tweats, im so sorry for you and your family sending all my thoughts - what terrible experience you have had.
I havnt been in your position but I can imagine that running will really help you mentally, try not to worry about your weight yes it's horrible when things feel tight but they will loosen! Running might give you something to focus on, a bit of time for yourself, to get away from things? Maybe set a goal? This week run x miles, next week do 2 more miles?
just start off lightly -you will soon get your energy back -give yourself time, you are grieving and that is mentally and physically exhausting. I have two very good friends who lost babies at 26weeks and 22 weeks, life can be very cruel sometimes.
good luck with your running, take care, sending huge hugs xxx
After fully training for vlm I had to defer my place the week before due to severe knee pain, I've been seeing a physio for last 7 weeks doing lots of strengthening excercises and stretching, still no improvement so decided to pay for an mri which shows soft tissue swelling in keeping with iliotibial band friction syndrome, physio and gp have both agreed on cortisone injection into the knee. (Due to have this in 2wks)
I am so frustrated with this injury have gone from running 50 miles a week to literally 4/5 miles if I'm lucky!
can anyone please tell me they have gotten over this injury and are back to running properly and how they did it? Really fed up, i'd give anything to run for longer than 20 mins!!
When did your injury happen? How far can you run before pain, how much pain are you in? Have you seen a physio for diagnosis and what did they say about tomorrow?
Are you hoping to just get round or do you have a time in mind?
I can't give you any reassurance I'm afraid as I took the heart wrenching decision to defer on weds as I have patella tendinitis, It is totally gutting to defer after training so hard, for so long I have cried many tears but I would much rather be injured for a few weeks then be injured permenately or for many months - Do you have to run?
