Surely you have to agree that running takes more energy than sitting still, therefore running instead of watching tv will equal weight loss? You can not say running in any form, even junk miles does not consume more energy than being static? This is the basis of biology!

The problem is people are optimistic in the number of cals they think they need and the number they burn v intake. How many times do you read an average man needs 2550 cals per day? Most simply do not, I need 2400. How many times do you read you burn an average of 150 cals per mile? I burn nearer 100. How many people accurately log or measure their nutritional intake? Not many.

Also why would you want to loose any weight that wasn't fat? What is the point of loosing weight if it is muscle mass or vital organs! Loose the flab at a lb a week rather than a mix of 2 lbs a week.

Run and you will loose weight this is a fact. Energy is required and it can not come from thin air. There are more efficient quick burn methods of loosing weight, but running does burn energy.

Yep I'm doing it just paid up before I read this!

It's local so I thought I would give it a go, beats constantly running on my own round the Flask & Agden.

Hope they increase the route so we have a chance of a time on a 'real' 10k. Any ideas on this?

Must dash running Friskney/Boston half in 2 hours!!!!!

Why can't every 13.1 be like this one? Well organised & supported, great route, fast course and a banana, water and squirrel bar!!

1:28 will do fine for me

Great day as always, but I too was going backward in the last 3. Hard finish that one.

Any idea what the 1:30 pacer was called so I can see what time he brought people home in? I agree the gaggle around him were a nightmare to run with so I pushed on alone after the 2nd mile.

Cheers and congrats to all who finished, bask in the smugness
