thanks Rich i will, i've decided to go ahead and do it leaving Chester this year. To be honest i wasn't really thinking of a time with it being a course i know little about and also was just thinking of trying to enjoy it more than clock watching on this 1. Just done London in 3.49 and Chester last year in 3.54, got Liverpool in 5 weeks so although it would be nice to go under 4 at Loch Ness i'll just be happy to get as close to it as possible and enjoy what sounds to be a really fantastic race
dont be mad! course you'll make the cut off limit! and with it being your first marathon dont even think about a time, just use it to get round the course, complete it and look back on an amazing achievement. Remember when you cross the line,it wasn't just about the 26.2 miles you did on the day but all the effort and time you put in over the previous weeks and months.
You will enjoy it Heather,i've done 4 marathons now and 2 of them were here! i could be doing a 3rd this year if plans for Loch Ness fall through. Fantastic support at the start and finish and through the small villages, perfect organisation and 2 steepish but short hills thrown it which are over with before you know it. A massive recommendation i could make as well would be to run with the pacing groups for whatever time you're hoping for, they know the course inside out and know when to go a little quicker to save them valuable seconds for the 2 hills. You really will enjoy it,just read the reviews to see that good luck and enjoy
fantastic, sounds brilliant, cheers Alastair. i dont mind the hills,i train on them and actually enjoy them,1 of the lads thinking of running was a little put off with the thought of a hilly course but that doesnt sound too bad, let the fun begin
a few of us did the waterloo 15k that Alan mentioned a couple of years ago, great race, decent course(besides the farmers field at the end with tractor marks everywhere!) but very badly signposted, over 100 runners turned up at the wrong place, then we encountered a very snotty guy at the signing on desk who was in no rush to sign us in after their error! and disrespectful marshalls to one of the lads running with us who was in last place after the 1st mile after starting 5 mins late and was told he shouldve entered the 5k and left the 15k to the big boys! Maybe one of the reasons the race shut down possibly???
