Wish I was in area with no snow fall. In North Bucks we have had the ice on the local roads and pavements since 23rd Dec, making it impossible to go for a run (unless you want to risk a break). Current snow level is around 15cm with more to come I believe. Having to use a treadmill at a gym as and when I can get there as the local roads are so incredibly bad! Trapped in this village for at least a couple of days until they sort the roads out again. Have to get the Wi Fit out! |

Sadly I have been on the bench since the end of October with ligament damage to my knee. For the first couple of weeks, I could barely walk so that killed any urges to run! Since then I have been swimming, walking and some light gym work and work outs on the elliptical trainer. Hopefully get back into some light jogging after Xmas. Very frustrating as the fitness level starts to slide, and start to feel lethargic in the process but I know when I did the injury it was not going to be a speedy return to running. |

HI mdram queen - this is a very small race, last night there were 89 finishers. So in comparison to race4life you will find a difference. I think when I did the MK one this year with my daughter there was 1500+ competitors and you can't get a consisent run owing to the numbers and pinch points on the course. I am a slow runner and my running time is around 11 mins miles, so I was in the last few in last night. However thats always the case with me, so not too bothered as I only seem to have one speed! If you are planning to do a 10K then you may be best to pick one of the bigger races such as the Cancer 10K series as they attract a whole range of runners and have people coming in upto the 1:45 mark and beyond. With your current running speed you would probably come in around 1:15/20 mark. I tend to look at the previous race results and if they have people come in over the hour mark for a 10K then I am quite happy to join the plodders at the back. Just keep going as they are plenty out there who can't run at all! |

Yeah - I was a bit miffed about lack of medals. Bearing in mind the price - tenner on the night I thought this was being tight! Sadly I can't do any of the next two in the series due to school concert and holiday, so I will never get to see what I missed. Enjoyed the run, but thougt it was lacking atmosphere, needs a bit more promotion in order to get more people in. Perhaps need to consider shifting it to a Sunday morning, as I would suspect that would increase the numbers, as bit of an effort to go out an run at this time, if you are like me and run in the morning. Next one on the list is Stopsley Striders Ladies 5K - at least their promising a brass! |
