Thanks WIB, that's just what I wanted to hear I think we'll try to give it a go and see how we do - a bit of a lesson in navigating from a friend who's a scout leader might be in order and then off we go!!
Good luck to everyone doing it this year - enjoy!!
Me and a friend are thinking of doing the 50 next year. We've just done The Wall over 2 days (69 miles) and previously, other than a fair number of off-road marathons, have only done a 30 miler. We finished The Wall strong and fair buzzing and are now keen to start planning the next adventure
This was recommended but looking at the website it looks a pretty tough one - we're game for a laugh but what do you guys think? Is it a good idea to give it a go, or do you think we need a bit more experioence at ultras first? All advice/opinions welcome!!
well done everyone! I loved every minute of this despite the rain and the mud. My first ultra and I can't wait to try another one. Everyone seemed in good spirits, thanks for all the encouragement along the way and to the chap who literally hoisted me and my friend and another couple up a bank at one point. The campsite was ... interesting I think is the best way to describe it. Who on earth decided to put those portaloos up an embankment???
Anyway - still buzzing - came in with my mate in 16hrs 57, felt strong at the end so pretty happy with that.
put all my stuff on the bed last night and measured it up against the 65L pack. Gawd knows how that's going to work - might get the kit in but the sleeping bag's a definite no no. And that's before we even Start on the food .............
