Dear all helpful people, I ran my first full marathon at Edinburgh on the 23rd May this year and did ok with 4 hours 54, although was on track for 4 hours 30 until about mile 17/18 when I had to slow it down because of the heat. Nonetheless I enjoyed the experience immensely and am really keen to do another - thinking about Dublin in October. My problem is that I just seem to be so fatigued on even my short 5 - 6KM runs since I ran the marathon. I was also exhausted more than usual when I've seen my personal trainer - is this normal within the month after running a marathon, or am I just being a bit soft? (I did manage to walk the Yorkshire 3 Peaks at the weekend in 10.5 hours, so I still have some endurance left in me) Also, when I run and walk long distances at speed, my fingers swell massively. When I did the Edinburgh marathon I had to get my husband to look after my wedding and engagement rings because I knew it would be too painful otherwise - any ideas as to why this is? And more importantly, how I can stop it? Many thanks! Lucy |

| I really enjoyed Edinburgh this weekend - my first marathon. It was in equal measure the hardest and most amazing thing that I've done to date! I've definitely been bitten by the bug and am keen to do another one - I was aiming for 4 hours 30, made it in at 4 hours 54. Any recommendations for beginner friendly marathons in the milder months the other side of August? |

Hi Stoxy, Thanks for that I know pretty much exactly where you mean - the Abbey Inn is my local! Sounds like a good route. Looking forward to it and thanks for the reply. |

Hello, Any info on the suggested route for the race? Can't see anything on the Harriers website - could just be looking in the wrong area I guess. Cheers |
