I'm a jack of all trades when it comes to running. In the last few years I've done marathons, ultras, fell runs, mudstacles, mountain runs and a few others besides. Last year I tried Northridge adventures Fan Dance fitness which involves carrying a Bergen and went on to compete in the Fan Dance race in January running in boots with a 40lb Bergen. I absolutely loved it, it pushed me to my limits but the euphoria of finishing in a respectable time lasted for weeks. The Bergen is a game changer and training with it on my back built my strength and hill speed no end. I still regularly train with it as part of my regime and can run 8 min miles on the flat with boots and 40lbs in the Bergen. Don't knock it until you've tried it. Unfortunately I have another event on this day or else I would be entering it. I'm still tempted to enter this instead.
