What you say about Bothwell Castle sounds like a good reason to reccy it, if only for a bit of peace of mind on the day. I don't want any doubt in my mind about where i should be going as 'I'll have plenty else to think about .
With regards to the CS40 - hopefully someone can give a bit of insight for a 1st timer....
I thinkI know the route, but I'm a little sketchy about the section between Uddingston and Strathy Park. Is it well enough marshalled to just turn up on race day or is it worth getting up there to learn the route beforehand?
Also, do they take drop bags to the check points for you?
I just wore road shoes for D33. It was very wet last year and some tricky muddy patches where I slithered around a bit, but there is quite a bit of the trial that is tarmac and so I saw no point in wrecking my trail shoes on it.
Cheers. This seems to be the consensus from most people I've asked about it so that's what I'll go with.
Kennyyan - D33 is pretty much suitable for anything you'd wear on road though there may be a few muddy patches. Sounds like a few folk doing it, trying to organise the rest of my year's leave (leave year ends 31st Mar around that, Loch katrine and a course in Aberdeen. Tricky.
Thanks for that. Very good news as I didn't really want to be paying for trail shoes.
Did Loch Katrine half last year and it's a great event.
