I went for a run (5k) six days ago, during which I felt both of my inner ankles were sore. I assumed that it was just stiffness and carried on, but later that evening they became fairly painful, and the pain had spread up the side of my shin/calf of both legs to an inch or so below the knee. Since then, there has been intermittent pain or soreness (or sometimes something like a bruised feeling) in either leg or both at different places at different times, always on the inside of the lower leg from just below the ankle to just below the knee. The area does not appear to be swollen.
I'm quite baffled - I'm not sure if I've sprained the ankles slightly, pulled muscles, hurt a tendons, got cramp, a combination of these or something else entirely. I haven't been running since, just to be safe, but I do quite a lot of walking (>4 miles every day) and haven't really found the pain to be intense or debilitating.
Does anyone have any idea what I've injured, or when I can/should get back to training?
