This was a great event with a really friendly atmosphere. Thank goodness the weather was favourable as it would have been very different in wind and rain, especially the long walk at the beginning and the delayed start.
I thought the irreverent literature was a really nice Wacky Races touch and the Stormtrooper marshal, amongst other things, also enhanced the mini-festival feel. The organisers would do well to maintain this deliberately original and welcoming style.
I too was disappointed that personal audio was banned as I train with music and find that it enhances my experience and performance in races generally. I fear that this is going to become more commonplace and should be questioned more rigorously. That said, I complied with the request and I suppose it made a nice change to my usual routine. It was also heartening to see that some people ignored the rule and were allowed to run without interference from over zealous race marshals.
I would love to see this race become an annual event and thank the organisers and brilliant volunteers for such a great morning.
