I agree - I've done quite a few marathons but wasnt expecting the amount of ups & downs . I definitely wouldnt have taken it on as my 1st Marathon
I think the description of 'a few inclines' is probably right, although shuld be termed as 'hills', but competitors should be warned that its 'undulating' for the majority of the course.
If I see another sign saying 'steep incline' I may scream !
Yes I ran Thunderrun as a solo - absolutely awesome experience and the support from the other runners towards the end when they realise you are a solo (and struggling to put one foot in front of the other) is fantastic.
I was similar when I ran TR2010 - never run more than 26 miles - and its a huge challenge to make yourself walk , rest, feed enough to keep going for such a long time. I got it wrong, but plan to start VERY steady this time.
If you've never tried the full Thunder-Run I thoroughly recommend it - its the best running experience I've ever had !
