Just wanted to add to the positive comments already on this thread. The event was a challenge for lots of reasons, Friday afternoon was hard work in the driving rain and mud. But the XNRG team really worked hard and were so welcoming, I would recommend one of their events to anyone. Now seriously thinking about Round the Island next June.
Daniel. I will be doing the same, parking at Oxford, getting the train back. I have not done this race, but the logistics seem to tie up. My only concern (which you will not have) is to finish before the last train from Henley!
We obviously all have different reasons to run. To me this is one of the best races in all of Southern England, if not further afield. The route with good weather is stunning. It is a better route than the Grizzly as it is all on the coast.
Having said that I like the fact that it is so low key and easy to enter. So if a lack of medals and t shirts keeps the crowds away thats fine by me. Just stand near Branscombe, look west and tell anyone who will listen "I ran from all the way over there". That is enough bragging rights for me.
Taxi driver is right the best views are on your way back. You always know where the white horse is as there is a now unused cement works chimney helpful just in front of it! The last few miles are overall downhill which is another bonus.
