CM JEJ Nichs2 - thanks for the advice gents - I've taken it on board !
Incidentally I've just worked out that my average weekly mileage from Christmas Day onwards was 42 miles per week so scope for improvement by increasing that a little - not to mention if I can avoid the five comfort breaks that I had this year even better !
Ouch Ouch - I am also quite injury prone (last year's training was one injury after another) and need to get the balance right between pushing hard enough and avoiding time spent on the physio's bench. This year went well but I suppose the question is how much can I realistically increase the mileage by and still avoid injury ? I don't know the answer to that one yet...
I think I'm suffering with the temperature as well (20 degrees plus in town today). I've just done a 5.6 mile recovery run at 7:30 pace and my H/R average was 150 ! The last time it got that high was early December last year when I was doing my first training run for the marathon ! Surely my fitness can't have deserted me that quickly ?!
Well done Dull / Aitch S on completing the Vienna Marathon in exellent times - the conditions weren't ideal to say the least ! I've added myself to the list to give me something to focus on...

Knaresborough 10k for me today on the back of a none event training week. Worked till 0300hrs this morning for my sins and decided at last minute to enter it, not having done this particular one before !
It's rather wet in Yorkshire today and it poured down from start to finish (which incidentally I don't mind !) although it made some of trails a bit muddy ! Managed a PB (just) having got round in 42:46 although I'm defo gonna find a flat 10k in the near future to have a proper go at sub 40:00 ! This one like my only other attempt at 10k (Harrogate) is at best described as somewhat undulating !!
