CBT is indeed Computer Based Training and I've been looking at all the 'soft' management type courses - Customer Relationship Management, Project Management, Creative Thinking, things like that.

My next one is about .NET which I doubt I'm going to be able to get much into without having all the software to hand to try things out.

Not sure I'm a 'sticker' ... it's either that or daytime tv! Have you ever watched daytime tv? I think it's used in Guantanamo Bay as one of their 'persuasion' tools.

Strangely, boredom hasn't set in even though I've been off work for 3 weeks. I've discovered the 'delights' of CBT which is quite a nice distraction from daytime tv.

I'm not training 7 hours every day ... maybe only 3 or 4, but it's still nice to be picking up new soft skills.

I never thought I'd admit to enjoying CBT! There ya go.

Hi LOK - distractions from work are obviously keeping you from it :O

The op was full on, knock you out so you don't pass out from seeing your ankle hacked into, and cut away a LOT of bone (as said before - the consultant said it was a lot so who am I to argue - wonder how much weight I lost from that one op :O)

As for running, know it's going to be a while before I am allowed to go out - I haven't even had any physio advice yet apart form the keep off your feet as much as possible type stuff.

And yes, I'm fortunate enough to have someone to pamper me .. although their work interferes with my pampering. I can live with that though ;o)

Good afternoon foax. Hope all is well in the world.

Just thought I'd drop in and say Hi again ... sort of de-lurking almost now the worst of the ankle problem is over (ie, the op itself).

Also, thought I'd just let you know what the consultant has said this morning. He thinks the op was a total success although there is a 10% risk of the growth on the bone coming back which I can hopefully lessen if I don't do anything stupid like do too much too early.

There was a LOT of bone cut away (his words and emphasis ... not mine) although the incision scar will only be about 2 inches long.

Basically, more rest, ice, compression and elevation are the order of the day (oh how MANY times have we all heard that before eh?) - listen to my body and if my ankle is aching or swollen then I'm overdoing it and to sit down, and get other people to pamper me for a while. I LIKE that bit :O)

So all in all, am quite optimistic about the future.

Now if I could only sort out work, life would be a bunch of coconuts.

But that's a totally different story.

Damn - did I miss the party? Your thread was 2 years old on 5th June and I didn't check in to wish you (well, your thread at least), a Happy 2nd Birthday.

Did you ever think that it would go on this long?

Have been lurking on the site but not contributing at all (more on that in a mo) and have tried to keep abreast of things in here but it seems to change so much that I've totally lost track.

However, I want to wish you a belated Happy Thread Birthday all the same :o)

Reason for lurking is more to do with being out of action. I think from reading some of your comments LOK, you've had some form of ankle op a while ago? Well mine came through only 3 weeks ago and at very short notice - I had a bone spur catching two tendons gradually cutting through them. I've not been out for a run properly since the Ackworth Half Marathon back in 2005. The op was basically to chip that bone spur off.

I've been able to walk around today almost normally for the first time since the op although it's starting to ache a bit now - even though I'm just plodding (well, make that hobbling) around the house.

And I see the consultant on Wednesday to check up on how it's going.

I've put a bit of weight back on but once this ankle is back to being able to walk on properly, I'm going to start back on being ultra-sensible and back on the fitness regime as soon as I can. I have an aim of doing a 10K some time early next year (not sure when I'll be allowed to start going out for a run).

That's Vood signing off for the moment. Keep on runnin foax ;O)
