 More about me
2005 was a great year for my running. 2006 has started off better and having trained so hard for FLM I got my prize of sub 3 with 2:56:02. I think this is going to be my year:-) And it was! 2007 started poor with injury, but plans are now to run Dublin marathon for another pb attempt. Unfortunately Dublin didn't happen because I'd missed too much training to do myself justice. However, I have to be happy with running 2 off road marathons, White Peak in May and finishing 1st in 3.12.46 and South Downs (very tough this one)in June, finishing 2nd in 3.25. My shorter distance times have been slower this year due to lack of training, but hope to get things back on track so that 2008 will be better. Onwards and upwards, just keep on going :-) 2009 and so far nothing special in terms of race performances, except did my first 800m for the club at the last minute and surprised myself with a 2:35.9 - might train for a few of these next summer. Abingdon marathon is the next big goal and yet another attempt at sub 3 after my cramped legs let me down at FLM and I finished with 3:10. Keep on keeping on:-) No Abingdon due to getting swine flu and ending up with secondary infections. Onwards and upwards to plan for the next marathon... 2010 - a new focus after a series of illnesses at the start of the year. So shorter distance training for the summer and hope to improve there before attempting training for VLM 2011 and a sub 3. Keep on trying I say... VLM 2011 again didn't quite go to plan. I suffered with bad sciatica during a large part of training and without the 'magic' of a very good physio would not have made the start. It was still painful though and I did suffer during the marathon with pains down my left leg, so I finished with yet another 3.10, which I had to be happy with all things considered. I will not stop aiming for another sub 3 though, but it will have to wait until 2012 now as certainly not doing a second marathon in 2011.
