Having run the Great North Run in 1985, I packed it in until about 18 months ago, when I was 48. Originally I thought I'd just run for about an hour a week but only to stave off osteoprosis, since the only regular exercise I took was regular cycling. However, it's turned into an addiction now - I can't wait to go out, and I look at the world with fresh eyes since everywhere provides a potential place to run! Now I take my runing kit whenever we go away anywhere, which is much easier than packing a bike.
