 More about me
I've spent much of my life 'trying to get fit', with periodic attempts at gym membership and the occasional try at running. As a heavy smoker I didn't really think I had the capability to be that fit, so would give up (or life would get in the way). Toward the end of 1999, I realised that with the advent of a new millenium I had reached a stage where there was more of my life behind me than in front of me! So I stopped smoking and joined a gym (again). This time the stopping smoking worked and I started to feel good and get fitter. I entered a local 10k, like many novices not having much of a clue about what it really meant to run for more than 6 miles. My time was embarrasingly slow, but I had caught the bug. 6 years later, I have completed a dozen 10ks, several half marathons and to date 2 marathons. I'll never be a fast runner, I'm a 5 hour marathoner, but I'm fit enough to enjoy it. Happy running!
