Asics Gel-Evolution 5
Posted: 01/03/10
'Feel far too rigid and heavy for me:I really wish I hadn't invested in them - I now only wear them at the gym!'
Strengths:
Good fit.
Weaknesses:
Restricted movement of foot with very limited flexibility. I was recommended them by the Asics store in central London; I do over pronate on one foot but am neutral on the other. I have recently suffered from archilles tendonitus on my neutral foot; these did not help and I have found it increasingly difficult to run effectively in them.
Overall:
I am becoming more and more sceptical about the effectiveness of motion control shoes; do they really work? These certainly haven't for me. I think I will go back to straight forward neutral with good cushioning; even an orthopaedic consultant recently informed me that gait analysis and the myriad of different shoes to meet the needs of different running styles is just pseydo science and makes very little difference - just get shoes that feel comfortable to run in. I think I will take his advice! Any ideas?
