Science in Sport Go Gel
Posted: 22/02/08
'VERY GOOD-PROVIDES ENERGY, EASY TO USE, ABSORBS QUICKLY, TAS'
Strengths:
Provides energy within a very short time. Easy to use. Stores easily into any type of running bag. Blackcurrant tastes nice. Can be used without water.
Weaknesses:
None really, bit sticky but that's it really.
Overall:
For long runs 10-50 milers, use one half an hour before the start and then every 5 miles and if possible just before a drinks station so that the gel is absorbed quicker. Tried other makes but these are the best. Buy in boxes as much cheaper and use in conjunction with SIS powdered drinks.

Better shoes on the market-see Brooks Adrenalin ASR or Mizuno Trail Harrier (fell/rough trail)

Garmin Forerunner 305
Posted: 05/05/06
'V GOOD'
Strengths:
Gathers all the information you want, split times, heart rate, pace and times. Download onto computer takes seconds and compares previous runs. No need for a running diary plus the notes section is good for logging additional information Graphics when downloaded are excellent.Fairly easy to set up, even for me.
Weaknesses:
Bit fidgety to use, buttons on the side a bit small. Should be more waterproof, like the Suunto.
The catches either side of the Download and recharge base a bit flimsy. On long runs in the hills every time the pace drops the Auto lapse facility kicks in and stops the overall time, trying to come to terms with that.Instruction booklet could be a little more detailed.
Overall:
Excellent. I've had a Suunto Advizor for 4 years but the Garmin with the GPS facility betters this.

'BRILLIANT AND GOOD TO WEAR AS AN EVERY DAY TIME PIECE'
Strengths:
Gives all the data necessary for running in the mountains/hills/roads. Hard wearing, comfortable, batteries last about 1 year, reliable
Weaknesses:
Bit fussy for purely running e.g split times, having to go into different sub sections
Overall:
Not an out and out runners device as say a Polar or Ironman. Has overall strengths and everything apart from GPS.
