'Great all round offroader'
Strengths:
Anonymous, just get on with the job of work asked of them. Good enough for fell use and with plenty of comfort for long outings. Not such an aggressive outsole that they won't stand a bit of road use to link sections. Reasonably wide in the forefoot for those of that fins some of the Performance Inov-8s a touch narrow.
Weaknesses:
None really. Slightly boxy in the tow which means there's a bit of dead space in front of the little toes (mine at least). Not particulary an issue unless really contouring on the steep stuff. No blisters, no discomfort.
Overall:
Great offroad all-rounder.

'BUILDING ON THE FAMILIAR WALSH STORY'
Strengths:
Wider fitting. Sticky pyramid sole, great on mud. Good on grass, rock, mixed terrain. Confidence inspiring on the descents.
Weaknesses:
Wears a bit fast if your runs finish on the road. Really quite wide (I can't get some shoes on) so be careful you don't overstep the mark, you still want fell shoes to be reasonably close fitting.
Overall:
Simple shoe, does the job well. Why make things complicated?

'GREAT OFFROAD SHOE'
Strengths:
Serious offroad shoe. Orange stripes are clearly a safety feature :)
Weaknesses:
Poor on wet rock, comedy bad on tarmac
Overall:
I've grown really fond of these shoes the more I get to know them. A few bruised toe nails when new. Great traction on ascents, descents, corners. Bad on wet rock and wet wood - little bridges stiles, etc. Wear quickly on tarmac if you have to include any on your runs - like running on little wobbly stilts.

Definitely more of a serious/fell shoe than a trail shoe dabbler. Prefer an open quick draining shoe to one that tries to stay waterproof with goretex gizmos ...and then holds the water in.
