First Marathons: Personal Encounters with the 26.2-mile Monster by Gail Kislevitz (Editor)
Posted: 17/11/09
'MOTIVATING'
Strengths:
Short chapters which make it the ideal pickup and read when feeling at a loss with running. Some stories include siblings and husband and wife stories about marathon running.
Weaknesses:
Only weakness i would say is that its mostly american runners who've submitted stories about American races, some of them small town races.
Overall:
I'd say this book is a real motivational tool for those considering running a marathon, or those who've ran and are mulling over whether to run another one.
It really gives an insight into what each runner went through whilst training and even during the marathon... One guy stopping at an ice cream shop along the way and begging a member of the public to buy him an icecream.
