Strengths: Interesting history of Fell Racing and its characters.
Weaknesses: Far too much detail about the author's personal quest. A book about a southern journo completing a running feat so he can write a book about it isn't what I want to read. Not a particularly engaging style.
Overall: Some good stuff if you can weed out the `hey aren't I crazy for doing this'? dross.
Strengths: Gives you the facts and some background about a remarkable runner.
Weaknesses: Anyone on this forum could have written it as it relies on one secondary source and a few newspaper cuttings. Very little evidence of any primary research or analysis. Very much a `and then this happened' sort of approach.
Overall: One to buy if you see it 2nd hand but there's far better ways to spend £11
