Nike Zoom Structure Triax+ 14
Posted: 22/04/11
'Not as good as earlier versions of Air Structure'
Strengths:
Supportive and comfortable
Weaknesses:
I have found that the two recent versions are not as durable particularly the rubber on the rear of the heel. The black carbon rubber appears on inspection to be a good thickness however the centre of it seems to be paper thin and wears very quickly (3 weeks!) through to the colour leaving the thick outer edge. I am a heel striker but not that bad and weigh 12 stone. I am now with another brand of shoe and have had no heel wearing problems.
Overall:
I have worn the Nike Structure for near twenty years so it may be me rather than the shoe. I feel that the Nike+ plug affects the performance/ride of the shoe and generally I feel that the quality of the materials used in the shoe has recently been poor.

Nike Air Structure Triax 12

'Better than the 10 and 11 versions.'
Strengths:
They seem to fit better and the heel lasts longer.
Weaknesses:
The forefoot seems to wear quicker.
Overall:
Happier with these than with earlier Nike+ models.I felt Nike+ 'plug' may have affected shoe performance causing aches/injuries. Perhaps I have now changed my running style to suit the 'plug'.

Asics Gel 2130
Posted: 10/01/08
'GREAT SHOE FOR 10K'
Strengths:
I moved to this shoe from Nike Air Structure as I was unhappy with Nike+ which I think affect performance of the shoe. These are a revelation. They feel like part of my feet.I feel so lightweight and fast.
Weaknesses:
I have had a blister on the arch of left foot and later on the heel behind the ankle. I have never had blisters with Nike. This seems to occur just after the 6 mile mark.
Overall:
I enjoy marathon running and so need reliable shoes for long distance running. I do not have the time or cash to experiment. I understand that ASICS shoes have a reputation for blisters and that is acceptable to devotees. I thought about Kayano but no I am buying Nike again. I will certainly try 2130 for shorter runs because I do find these shoes fun to run in. Perhaps at 12 stone I am too heavy for these shoes.

1000 Mile Original
Posted: 08/12/07
'THE ONLY SOCKS I TRUST AND USE ALL DISTANCES TO MARATHON. '
Strengths:
If you separate the two layers before you wear them and ensure there are no creases or folds you will not get blisters.NB don't cover your feet in cream or vaseline.
Weaknesses:
They simply do not last 1000 miles I have often been tempted to send back old socks for replacement. They also shrink if not washed carefully. They are expensive.
Overall:
I have not regularly used any other sock in 15 years and they have my size XL for size 13 going on 14 when on long runs. M&S do a similar sock cheaper but only to a small sized 12 that also shrinks. I have tried Hilly XL but it shrinks at the sight of water. Does anyone do XXL that would shrink to suit a large foot?

Nike Air Structure Triax 10

Updated: 30/11/07
'VERY DISAPPOINTED'
Strengths:
Sole materials seems more durable especially the heel.

[Update 30/11/07] Probably a very good jogging shoe. Jogging speed being 9 minute miles for me.

Weaknesses:
Everything I think. Too soft. No perception of good support. Forefoot seems non existant. Heavy.

[Update 30/11/07] Not a shoe I would recommend if you are hoping to inject a bit more speed about 7 minute miles for me.

Overall:
Air Structure used since early 1990s a great shoe. I have tried this shoe for 2/3 months and cannot run in them. I have reverted to my old Triax 9s that are past their best. I wondered if I had been sold wide fit in error (my feet were sore) but no. I wonder if the 'plug' affects the shoe's performance. Probably OK for jogging but not for running races'. Desperately looking for a new shoe!

[Update 30/11/07] Have had a bad calf pull in each leg two sprained ankles. Never had such injuries before. 12 stone mild pronator. Have missed races with these injuries sadly 2007 New York Marathon.
The leg that suffered most has the shoe with the 'plug'. I am certain the 'plug' affects how these shoes perform.
