 More about me
Ran as a club 400m sprinter when a teenager. Drifted away from running at the same time as I discovered beer and unhealthy living. The (re)enlightenment came in April 2005 with a gentle 0.7 mile jog. When the wife did the Race for Life 8 weeks later I was up to 5 miles. The atmosphere there reminded me of the old days and I got bitten by the bug and decided to enter a race. Chose the Wycombe Half Marathon as I had done that twice before (albeit 17 years earlier) and knew what to expect. By then I had discovered Runners World, and particularly the events calendar. Entered a local 5K thinking I was nowhere near good enough for a club race, and had convinced myself (and others) that I might actually be last. Finished in 22:47 and with a thirst for more races. I now race approximately once a month (usually 10K), but will enter a local race more frequently for a change of scenery from the usual training routes. 33 Races so far; current PBs: 5K: 21:50 (goal <21m) 10K: 46:45 (goal (<45) HM: 1:48:02 (goal <1:45) Those goals were set in 2006, after I had done a few races, to give me something to work towards, and also to keep from getting bored.
