More about me
As a successful track runner (One Scotland vest @ 400mH in the 70's) I graduated up the challenges provided by road racing completing several marathons (best 2:40:26 - can you imagine how I resent that 26 seconds - and don't mention the tag on the end of my best half 1:15:03). I also chased Dave Scott all the way in "The Ironman" of 84 (he just piped me by some 4 hours). Continued competing with a specialisation in weight handicapped events (I weigh in at 13 to 14 stone). Since acquiring a degree of maturity and associated gravitas I've enjoyed outperforming the "children" (anyone under 40) I work with. Recently diagnosed with a heart condition (completely unfair - wrecked hips I could accept) I have taken up rowing as the knees aren't quite what they used to be but still get the odd half marathon and multi-terrain in.
