My first proper race was the Hastings Half, in 2004 - easily the toughest race of my life (finished in 1hr 39mins).
The challenge of that race, for some perverse reason, forced me to keep running. I just needed to face the course again and cope better. And I have, twice since, knocking 18 minutes off my original time.
I now run for Lewes AC and do regular 10k and half-marathon races.
