| | I ran FLM 2006 for Ty Hafan - the Children's Hospice in Wales (http://www.tyhafan.org) and completed it in a time of 3:40:53. It was hard, I was aching all over but I reached the finished line. As a result, I decided to have a break from running for a couple of months to let my legs recover.
26/05/2011 update: My break for a couple of months unfortunately lasted for 5 years!!! Now I'm back out running and I aiming for an Cardiff half marathon in October. Since London marathon I have now become a dad, my son was born on 6 April 2007. Has name is Robert, he is now 4 years old and is wonderful.
Since I became a dad I have been suffereing from exhaustion which led to me not sleeping well at night and feeling very depressed. After quite a few trips to the docs over the past couple of years to solve this, with no success, I started attendign mindful meditation classes at the start of 2010. This helped considerably and I started being a happier and more relaxed person. But I still could not sleep at night and was very tired in the day time. So in spring 2010 I went looking for another meditation group to join, and that was when I discovered the Sri Chinmoy centre in Cardiff. This involved going to talks about spirituality every monday and meditating with them for 20 or 30 mintues. It was very interesting and really opened my mind to what I can do and what I can achieve.
On February 7 2011, I officially become a disciple of Sri Chinmoy. I now meet with the other disciples in Cardiff every Wednesday and Sunday evening to meditate. I also meditate at home every day in the morning and evening. I have also started having accupuncture to help with my insomnia and it seems to be working.
Sri Chinmoy really encouraged sports, especially running, as way of unlocking the true potential of the human spirit, along with meditation and prayer. This has finally given me the encouragement and boost I needed to get back into my training. I now use my running as a mediation and not just as training aid to enter races. I now enjoy running for the sake of running and it is a truely wonderful experience.

Update: 17/10/2011. I completed Cardiff 1/2 in a time of 1:44:54, my target was 1:45, and I am very pleased with that. I was plagued with shoulder problems, back problems and headaches in the last couple of weeks before the race, but I overcame them all and completed the race in a respectable time. And I feel very good and happy. | | | Status: Completed Cardiff 1/2 in 1:44:54 and I feel good | | | Message me |
