In short: 4 inclines, and windy, but still a fast course, mainly due to the quality of field! In full: stellar field, and fast last km give this good pb potential. But there are 4 inclines and fair wind in places.
Narrow at the start for a half km climb, but the field soon thins out nicely. If you're on target by 8km you're well away, as 8to9km is totally flat, and 9km has a gentle slope to help you finish strongly. Date of review: February 3, 2013

In short: Could be fast, but on a windy day like today no chance In full: echo the below, very windy today, so anyone who has pbd must have either under performed before, not raced 10k very often, or simply have run amazingly!
Mile markers on the air field were ridiculously out for 5k and 6k.
5k was a bit short, but then 6k was 1/4 km too long, giving an epic long km time!
A nice little race though, still almost 400runners there though. Date of review: December 9, 2012

In short: Quality field, and pb heaven In full: If you're in the shape for a pb then this is the race to show it! Very high quality field, with 3 runners under 49.04! Great course, even with a bizarre mile on sandy chalk type weird surfaces! A couple of very brief slopes/steps at mile 8 weren't much to deal with, and pretty good weather on top.
All in all great day out. Date of review: October 16, 2011

In short: Can be a fast course, but today was hot! In full: Nice little course, can be fast on a day that isn't so hot!
Bit of an incline at 4 to 5k that takes the momentum away, and a last 1/2 km on trail makes it less fast than some flat courses, but a nice run out.
Wil be pleased with coming top 10 this year. In normal October weather would definitely have been quicker, but you can only run as you find it on the day. Date of review: October 2, 2011

In short: Fast course despite the wind In full: Well worth the 170mile round trip, coming away with a 49 sec pb.
Unusual set up with a lap of a track to set you off, and then some pathy road fare for most of the race, until a 100metre on the track finish.
Quality standard, 28.05 was only 31st position for me today..but what do you expect for a well known race in an area with quality runners. Date of review: September 18, 2011

In short: Great venue, as quick as it gets in right weather In full: Like a few of the reviews below, I'd been put off by a few things before, like the supposed "dull" course, but also the tales of high wind, and the fact it was a mid summer race.
After a really hilly 10k 2 weeks back, i fancied a real go at the pb, and in good conditions, stonked 30secs off for a 35.20.
Delighted with this, and didn't find the laps too bad at all, as it wasn't a full 2 laps, as at 7k you cut off to come back and do a different return to the finish line.
Lovely smooth road to run on, even the slight ups on the bridges just kept things interesting and gave points to focus on
Great race....is there a 5k version in the year! Date of review: July 31, 2011

In short: Home town race that always delivers In full: Probably the only must do race of the year for me these days. A summer without doing either the half or the 10k isn't good...luckily only 2007 have i missed either in the last 10 years.
Well polished, so much so that adding the 10k a few years ago worked seemlessly.
Incredible goody bag, nice medals, and free t shirts, different versions of each depending on which race you'd done. Great effort there.
Very tough course, probably as tough a road race as you'll find really, at least in these parts. Very varied though, steep hill, rolling countryside, undulations, even steeper shorter descent, couple of residential miles, round a lake, and then grassy finish...lovely.
For the guy who said the start is narrow..behave yourself. It's the widest start I've ever seen in 120+ races! It might narrow a little, but only after 600metres or so when things have eased a bit. If you want to see narrow, try the footpath at about 6.5miles in the half.
All round a great race. Pleased to come 6th in 36.47 today. 57 secs off the pb, but anyone pbing here has got a soft pb! Date of review: July 17, 2011

2010 Gosport Half-Marathon

In short: Fast course, even with windy airfield and prom miles In full: Heard this was a fast course, so thought i'd wheel 85miles down. Was pretty quick, but a couple of laps of a windy airfield and a couple of never ending miles to finish on the prom sucked a little life of out me.
Great views in places though, nice organisation, pretty good race. And good to be part of the 25th anniversary celebrations. Date of review: November 21, 2010

In short: Good fast low key race In full: Wasn't sure what to expect with this being near Slough, but found it to be a nice rural course, with enough variety in the undualtions and route to keep the mind ticking over.
1.8 laps is much better than 2 laps, especially as it bypassed the one long long drag! It's funny, I wouldn't even consider the incline anything near a hill in normal circumstances, but in a flat race it felt a bit of a bind...especially as it was such a long straight road!
However, hit a big pb so was delighted with the day's work. Weather was ideal, overcast and a little cold, but nothing major and no real rain! Date of review: October 3, 2010

In short: Scenic, mildly challenging good MT event In full: Did the 5k and had a nice time winning it. A couple of slight screw ups, making the distance actually 1/4mile long, with the 1st k coming at 0.92miles wasn't great...nor was stewards being shocked by my arrival. A couple were placed badly at one junction, being positioned down the correct path rather than blocking the incorrect one!
But generally a great location and good varied route Date of review: June 13, 2010
