In short: Looking a little bit unloved this year
In full: Ive done this race a few times in the past and always really enjoyed it. But this year, all of the little touches that make races great were missing. The route is lovely and marshals out on the course were very smily and encouraging. And of course, those are the most important bits. But, no water at the finish, no communication from the organisers prior to the event and no one handing out medals at the finish, (they were just left on the table for people to help themselves) just felt like organisers were just going through the motions this year. Hopefully the will sort it out for next year

In short: The lovely ladies from the Epsom Allsorts do it again
In full: Beautiful weather brought out short sleeves and smily faces for this annual event famed for tea and cake. Friendly relaxed organisation, pretty route, and welcoming attitude makes this the perfect race for experienced runners and those looking to do their first race.

Well done Allsorts

In short: Lovely run in the countryside
In full: Exploring paths and trails runners are not normally permitted on. Everything you would ever want at a race was there. Easy number pick up, clear signage, helpful, cheery marshals, and a bacon butty van with big cups of tea :0). Lovely way to spend a Sunday morning.

In full: Really enjoyed it today. Everything well organised, friendly cheerful marshals, plentiful water stations and lovely countryside to run in. What more do you need from a race?

In short: Woohoo, another knacker cracker done
In full: Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. From the cheery, encouraging marshals to the monumental efforts made in the fancy dress, to the hills and this year, mud, glorious mud.

Thank you Dr and Mrs Rob and all of the superb helpers who chipped in to make this event one of the favourites on the Calender.

In short: I've done this race many time in the past and absolutely loved it.
In full: But this running of it left me feeling slightly disgruntled.

I appreciate that 99% of runners will have had a completely different experience of the event and that certainly seems to be backed up by the other ratings.

However, this year I opted to run with a friend. We found ourselves very much towards the rear of the pack which is fine, it's a position I'm used to.

The day was glorious, scenery never better and it was great to see so many familiar faces.

I know this course really well and so as we plodded up Lower Road towards the Ridgeway I was surprised to see the chap in front of us carry on. The girls in front of us called him back so he didn't go too far wrong but when I looked there was no sign, no marshal, no indication of the turn anywhere.

We carried on and up to the junction at the top of Young Street and used to seeing Fire Engine and Ambulance stopping traffic I was very bemused to see nothing, no fire brigade and once again no marshals. It was very disconcerting trying to cross the busy road junction without assistance. And unfortunately it set the tone. We clicked off the route and (apart from the water station) never saw another marshal until we got back out from along the river in Leatherhead about 400m from the finish. Including the roundabout at Givons Grove where we took our life in our hands to cross over.

When we got back we were also gutted to discover they had run out of medals (bring out last years offering instead) and most importantly there was no cake left.

I normally love this race but the whole experience made me feel really unwanted. We may as well have just plodded round on our own for an hour.

I will be back next year and I keep my fingers crossed it will be a better experience.

In short: My love affair with Beachy continues
In full: In testing conditions this year it was still an amazing experience. The organisation is brilliant at this event (although we did encounter a few of the water stations hoarding the food they had been given to hand out, what was that about?) the route is stunning and challenging and fellow participants chatty and encouraging.

But the highest words of appreciation must go to the marshals who gave up their day to stand in freezing winds and rain for our benefit. You were all amazing.

In short: Beautiful views of the whole of the South Coast
In full: A lovely little race. There were millions of marshals all nice and cheery although I had to kill a couple for telling me not long to go about four miles out. The course is a good mix of Tarmac, mud and chalk making the descents fun :0). There is a hill in the middle which one may describe as massive if you're not a hill fan. Personally, I loved the climb, the views and a descent as good as any you'll find on the South Downs. The mile markers were well out and I personally could have done with another water station. But overall, a really nice race.

In short: Thank you Reigate
In full: Our Improvers group who used this event for their 'graduation' had a ball. We love that we are made to feel really welcome and supported here. The marshals were fab. Organisation is great. The start/finish in priory park suitable and convenient and the route is lovely. Thank you and see you next year
