In short: Fab day out
In full: Tough course, for the entire race you seem to be either running up a gentle hill, running up a big hill, or running down a hill. Saying that I think the long downhill sections mean that good times are possible (very hard to judge today because of weather).

Plenty of support, especially the last couple of miles. Special thanks to all of the households who realised how tough it was getting and fetched their garden hoses out to provide welcome showers from mile 10 onwards!

The incredible hot weather (nearly 80 degrees for October) and the late morning start, made getting a pb nearly impossible - certainly no fault of the organisers though.

As this was the first Basingstoke half, I was amazed at how good the organisation was, well done to the organisers - Will def be back next year.

In short: Protesters at race
In full: There were a number of people at the start/finish of the race with physical deformities, who were protesting about activities of Bayer, the company who organise/sponsor the event. The protesters informed me that this "multi-national" pharmaceutical giant of a company was involved in a drugs scandal around 30 years ago, and the result was that a number of babies were born with deformities. Not really what I was expecting on a Sunday morning, but good luck to all of the families and victims involved. From the brief conversation I had with one of the victims, Bayer should hold its head in shame!! They did mention the drug, Primados was the name..I believe??

In short: Very poorlly organised
In full: This is the 4th time I've run this race, and this one was poorly managed compared to previous experiences.

Not enough toilets, start and finish not clear, clock at finish was not accurate, rubbish medal and expensive for what you get...won't be back at that price.

Having said that, it is a good race for spectators.
