In short: Great laugh, tough event.
In full: Loads of hills, mud, hills, water , mud, sand, hills, mud, water, mud hills (think I forgot to mention that it's a hilly course).

First time down South, I've been Up North for 5 Hellrunners and In The Middle for 1. Matches up to the rest.

Really enjoy the whole series and look forward to picking which to do next year!

In short: A Tough Race.
In full: I did the 24km version which was tough, especially knowing what was to come after completing the first lap.

Felt the entry was a little steep for a race, but it was very well marshalled with supplies of gels and water around the course.

One thing that does need improvement for future years are the directions - I found them very poor and difficult to follow, glad that I set out deliberately early.

In short: Well done Brighton
In full: Very enjoyable marathon.

Organisation was very good ensuring that there were enough of all facilities, water, gels and energy blocks.

Downside was the dog-leg 14-18 miles and the Road to Hell 20-23 miles.

Great support at most parts of the course.

In short: Great start to the year.
In full: This race is worth the 196 mile round trip. I have to make to take part. The race organisers strive to make improvements and are well rewarded with a sell out event.

In short: For swamp lovers!
In full: An excellent race that combines 4 or 5 different types of mud, a loose sand covered hill. The parking is ideal right next to start/finish and registration.
Perhaps there wasn't enough toilets as the queue did get quite long.
I do dislike having to register on the day (pick up timing chip) - quite sure that this could be made easier (like sending the chip out with the number) again there were some long queues for this.
The front runnners were directed the wrong way quite early in the race - this really shouldn't happen and does need to addressed in the future.

Great way of handing out spot prizes, although does suit faster runners.

In short: Glad I did it.
In full: Yes it was expensive, but early entry iaded this. When you consider the cost of constructing the obstacles maybe it wasn't over-priced. When a goody bag is promised then that's what people expect - need to get a range of freebies in the bags rather than localised leaflets. Charging for car-parking at races is a bug-bear of mine if parking is going to cost add it to the entry fee - that eases marchalls duties on the day.
Overall I'm glad that I did it I feel that I conquered the course as it was on the day - will I be back - yet to be decided as it does need a long weekend to make it worthwhile.

In short: Hit the spot again
In full: Well organised, fast course, safe with mad mile being closed to traffic. Good quality technical T-shirt. And they ban portable music players for the race!

In short: Tough as hell.
In full: A really tough race, quirky and great scenery. I would recommend that anyone who takes on this race has done some of the extreme XC races that are on offer first.
