In short: Fun in the mud!
In full: Done quite a few road tri's and thought it was time to give off-road a tri.
As a novice MTBer I was a little nervous about whether the course might be too challenging for me. Heavy rain the day before made it was made a little more challenging than it might otherwise have been. Mix of single track, grass and a short stretch on tarmac. No jumps or drop offs as such, quite a few ditches to negotiate, some interesting bridges and a lot of slithery mud. Course was well marked and the speedy folk were very considerate and encouraging to those less talented when passing.
Lake swim and undulating trail run were both well marshalled.
Left me wanting to improve my mountain biking skills so I can ride it better next time.

In short: Lovely course, perfect weather, great marshals
In full: My first go at the 'new' Perch. Definitely not as challenging as the original but a great course and equally enjoyable.
Very smooth organisation though only XL shirts left by the time I finished. However, rather than just handing out oversize shirts, names and sizes required were taken and the correct size shirt will be forwarded by post.
Congrats to the Oddballs on raising a phoenix from the ashes.

In short: Great event. Relatively gentle course this year and perfect weather
In full: Did the 20 and really enjoyed it. Course changes every year and this year's was relatively gentle with some fantastic views and not too many horribly uneven, rutted or root-strewn tracks. Written route guide is detailed and easy to follow. Cup of tea at last checkpoint was particularly welcome :)

In short: A good new event
In full: Definitely undulating with a few flat stretches for light relief. Entirely off road on fallow fields and bridleways - except for Ebbisham Lane. Fields were sticky, bridleways were very muddy in places but that's to be expected at this time of year. Overall, a nicely challenging route. On a clear day there would've been some excellent views across the Downs; sadly it was a little murky today.

Standard medal to all finishers with engravers on site for anyone who wanted to pay £4 to have personal details added. The refreshments cabin made an excellent bacon buttie and very welcome cup of tea.

Congratulations to the organisers for putting on a good new event.

In short: Ok so as an Allsort I may be biased but I always enjoy this event. Fast at the front; biggest cheers saved for those at the back. And excellent cake stall too as usual.

In short: Tough start, excellent finish!
In full: Course is essentially a square, flat along top and bottom, short sharp slope then slight up gradient on right side, downhill on left side. Only serious uphill is very soon after start and was definitely easier second time around. Tracks are pretty sound though a bit uneven in places and will potentially be slippery when wet.
Excellent organisation and atmosphere - and it's free!

In short: Nice new course - same hot weather
In full: New start much better. Liked new course which seemed marginally easier than previous route. Excellent marshals giving loads of encouragement as well as keeping traffic away from traffic.

Suffered in the heat as usual but not much DMVAC can do about that short of changing the date of the race. Don't understand previous comments about lack of water stations - every 2-3 miles in a club race is pretty generous.

Sadly small t-shirts and fruit drinks had run out by the time I ambled in.

I'm sure I'll be back to do this again. It offends me that I'm always 10-15mins off my normal pace at this event.

In short: Quite hard work to mile 4, much easier thereafter.
In full: A small, well mixed field though fewer slower runners than I remember from a few years ago. Not the easiest 10 miler around but well worth the effort.

In short: Top marathon with first class marshals.
In full: Will have to come back and do it again cos I know I should've done better on this course.

In short: Dull first half, scenic second half and thank goodness for the rain!
In full: I believe that it's hot and sunny more often than not for this race. This year we were blessed with grey skies and fairly gentle rain which was great for the running but did mean that people left fairly promptly after finishing.
First half is along roads with no pavement for the first few kms; fortunately the traffic wasn't too bad. Second half along the towpath was infinitely better though I suspect in better weather there would've been far more dog walkers and cyclists to dodge.
Start line was not particularly clearly marked and I suspect it would'be been easy to miss the km markers.
First time I've done this event and will definitely do it again.
