In short: Well done Hermes Running, another great race. Love this year's medal and the technical t-shirt too. In full: Super marshals, really encouraging, well stocked feed stations, well marked route. It's not a PB course, but a very enjoyable race for a bank holiday weekend. Love Saturday marathons! Thank you. Date of review: May 4, 2013

In short: Hilly! Reminded me of Beachy Head marathon but the road race version not trail. In full: My first time at Sussex marathon and was really impressed, smooth organisation, amazingly well supplied feed stations, all the way around. Very friendly and supportive marshals, they really make a race and a big thank you to everyone who gave up their Sunday. It was a very friendly race, plenty of smiling (despite the hills), however just being a friendly race wouldn't necessarily make it an ideal race for a beginner purely because it's such a tough one!
The last mile ( which seemed almost vertical at that point) was tough going, but the sense of achievement was immense when crossing the finish line, receiving a personal announcement and lovely welcome.
The hills pushed my time almost 35 mins over my PB on a flat course! Will return next year, if only to try to beat this year's time. Perhaps a little more hill training next year!? Date of review: April 7, 2013

In short: Third time for me, loved it, once again. Great support from start to finish, even in such bitterly cold conditions. In full: Excellent medal and goody bag. The highlight for me was holding the Olympic torch and having my photo taken with the Olympians before the start, I was racing and raising money for DKH Legacy.
Thank you so much to all those marshals standing out wishing us well as we ran. Date of review: March 1, 2013

In short: No fuss, no frills, but a little pricey for a 10 mile race. Nice route, good support going through the villages and thankfully we could go around the ford, as it was fairly full! In full: My third time at this race and to be honest I only raced today as it was a Club Champs, Kent Champs and Grand Prix race.
I felt it wasn't great value for money and for competing in a 10 mile undulating race personally I like to receive a medal. Whilst the bag may be useful, as a competitive club runner I'm afraid to say I won't be using my red Invicta East Kent branded bag. Had it just read 'Canterbury 10 mile 2013' then of course I would! In short: Excellent race, mud glorious mud! Fabulous atmosphere amongst fun runners and club runners alike, love the festive medal - nice touch. A steep incline, twice makes it interesting. In full: You can always rely on Martin and his team to deliver excellent races. Just how races should be. Such a bonus being on a Saturday too, can still fit in another cheeky race on Sunday too! Mince pies and mulled wine at the end, even a xmas pud, very generous. Well done to everyone and thank you. Date of review: December 15, 2012

In short: The marathon was fun. Lovely route over the downs, quiet lanes were great. Running along the A20 not quite as nice, but we all knew the route. Friendly all the way around, runners and marshals. Well stocked feed stations. In full: Only small suggestion for improvement would be a bit more thought put into the medal, it was generic and you had to look hard to see if it was for the marathon. Thank you to all those who gave up their Sunday morning to put the race on. Date of review: November 19, 2012
