Very laid back, beginner-friendly. Good marshals. Medal but no t-short. A nice day out. Results up on web before end of day. pretty good all round. Date of review: April 22, 2013

In short: Enjoyable, with room for improvement In full: Pros: friendly, laid back, good local support, great goody bag. Cons: inaccurate/non-existent mile-markers, no marshall or signage for last left turn at about 12 miles, all road, no forest.
Amazing support from the woman who appeared at 5 different support points - you are a star! Thanks to all organisers, marshals, locals who came out - a good event. Next year - could we have some of the route in the greener spaces? Also would it be possible to sort the mile markers out? Date of review: April 8, 2013

In short: +5 mins to your PB... In full: ...Second time i've done this and both times it has been the hottest day of the year... A great course, frequent hills (some steep) and stunning scenery. A tough cross filed finish in the burning sun. Good amount of shade under the trees. Water stations were pretty ineffective though - I had to stop dead twice to get a cup of water. Perhaps the organistion could be improved to make end a little better. Moving the tents slightly away from the end of the race would prevent crowding at the exit, also more sponges so they didn't run out/need to be recollected. The organisers were having to do a fair bit of ordering people about which could've been avoided. However - fantastic care was given to overheated runners by St Johns and organisers alike - which is the most important thing of course. A great race for the scenery and the challenge. Don't come looking for a PB though. Did it in 47min (with a 42min PB). Date of review: June 27, 2011

In short: A good PB course In full: First off anyone still looking for the results? They're not on the organisers website so far as i could find but found them here: http://www.thepowerof10.info/results/results.aspx?meetingid=52826&pagenum=1
A quick course, great PB potential. The route is a little dull, up and down the seafront twice. Good water/sponge stations - frequent, well stocked, nice people. Not enough toilets at start, not much in the way of stands or freebies at the end. Nice medal. Great loction of start 100m from train station makes this very convenient. For me this is a race to do for the fast times possible but for not much else. got round in 1:32. Date of review: June 13, 2011

In short: Quick, crazily windy and fun In full: My second marathon - and a good one. The course was lovely in places (seaside views, greenery etc) and bleak in others (power station). Fantastic to be able to run my own pace - no overcrowding and space to run freely. For anyone who was frustrated by London this is a good antidote. Nice flat course overall with slight incline toward the end. The big test was the head-on wind from 18-26 miles - very tough. Mile markers a bit small and support occasionally thin. Great water/lucozade stations. Great t-shirt, OK medal. enjoyed a pint afterwards... got round in 03:23. Date of review: May 27, 2011

In short: A really good, pretty tough race - and got a PB In full: Did this last year and enjoyed it so came again. Was not disappointed - nice challenging undulating course, with about 6 hills, two or three pretty tough. Some nice scenery and excellent traffic control on roads. Great training for anyone wanting to maintain an even pace over varying gradients. Well organised and friendly. Would've preferred more water stations (there were only 3 or 4) and a medal is always welcome but otherwise not a bad word to say. Marquee worked well and baggage collection fine. Took 3 mins off my PB getting round in 01:33 so don't think this is necessarily slow. Date of review: February 7, 2011

In short: 3-laps, not quite flat In full: Enjoyed this. Nice people and good banter. bananas at the end. Chip timing not great as it records gun time, not cross-the-start-line-time. Nonetheless shaved 15sec off my PB. Would def do again and would recommend to others. I'll be back... Date of review: December 6, 2010

In short: Pretty route, quite fast and good fun In full: Locks, bridges, narrowboats. Woodsmoke, swans, fishermen. Puddles, mist and mud.
A bottleneck start stretched into a pretty, uncrowded and narrow canal-side route. Slight up and down over bridges & locks made it a little harder. Testy little hill at the end.
Overall a very nice race. Date of review: November 15, 2010

In short: Not my cup of tea In full: First of all this is not a race but a big fun run/charity event. I knew this when I applied so I have no right to complain (but here we go anyway - sorry Asics/GB10k). I found the whole thing frustrating start to finish. Not enough toilets. 1/2 crowded waddle to the start. No staggered start = an unbelievably crowded route. People walking 4 and 5 abreast (after 2km!) in the middle of the road. Nowhere near enough water. £29.50 to enter felt too much. Positives were decent crowds all the way, lively atmosphere with mixed ability runners and it would be good fun if you are just wanting to get round for a good cause. Date of review: July 13, 2010
