In short: A tough challenge in the Downs - a good day out . In full: I found the map ok - though I had the event before - the cutting out of a loop from last year seemed to catch some runners out - as they took last years route. Needs a few more signs and a couple of marshals at a couple of junctions. Date of review: May 2, 2005
In short: The overcrowded shambolic start area spoilt a very well organised event In full: The start was overcrowded with no real control that I could see - the route was bit undulating rather than flat. Perhaps the half/full starts need to be staggared. Also - the £5.50 car park fee was another added expense on top of the entry fee !
In short: great event round the canals, countryside and some large foothills ! In full: Not a race, a challenge in the countryside to enjoy, some great views, some steep hills and a few muddy bits : great chocolate cake at halfway ! Date of review: April 13, 2005
In short: Well organised race In full: Well organised, good instructions pack with race number. Might have been a good idea to have some large CAR PARK for runners signs - lots of cars "lost" outside the venue, having already passed the turn for plentiful car-parking - about 400/500 metres from the start. Weather was ok/mostly cool - if it had been a hot one then a lot of people would have suffered due to small number of drinks stations.Pity its a 4 and a half hour limit, if its a finishing time problem - let he marathon start 30 mins or an hour before the half ? after all its a "charity" even ? In short: Well organised, though not sure how it would be if the weather had been really bad, shelter at finish was a small tent - considering the number or runners. All the marshalls deserve a medal. In full: Would have preferred a momento as this was an Ultra - rather than yet another t/shirt that does not fit.....large...again. Date of review: February 24, 2005
