In short: A challenging course but the scenery takes your mind off the hills. Marshalls and those manning the drinks stations were very supportive. Weather was very changable this year. I'll be back next year. Date of review: March 4, 2009
In short: A well organised race. A challenging course, particularly with the wind and cold. Thanks to all the marshalls and people manning the drinks stations. Excellent momento. I'll be back next year, when the weather may be a bit kinder. Date of review: February 1, 2009
In short: A 3 lap course run over reasonably quiet country roads. Marshalls were friendly and supportive, as were the few supporters on the course. Some minor issues with organisation but overall OK. Sorry to hear about the death of the runner doing the race. Date of review: January 26, 2009
In short: Excellent organisation. A few interesting hills on the course. Thanks to the marshalls, spectators and the other runners for making this such a special race. Date of review: December 14, 2008
In short: Disappointed the race had to be cancelled but what other choice could there be ? In full: I've done this race for the last 6 years. The organisation has always been excellent. The organisers had no choice but to cancel the race today due to an overturned car on the course and the time it was taking to clear it. I agree that it's a disappointing for runners, paricularly those who travelled some distance to the event (I myself travelled from Derby for the race), but also for the organisers and the marshals who had given up their time to arrange and support this event. There are very few marathons left on the race calendar and we should encourage and support those that there are.
A few years ago the Worksop Half was cancelled with everyone lined up on the start line due to fallen trees across the course route due to high winds. They held the race 3 weeks later very successfully. Is there any possiblility of rearranging the race for early January 09 ? Date of review: December 7, 2008
In short: Well organised race. A reasonably flat course, except for the hill going back into the Showground. Thanks to the Marshalls and people manning the drinks stations. Date of review: November 30, 2008
