In short: A very well organised race, and one I'll definately do again.
In full: What a horribly miserable day! It's very hard to enjoy races on days like this, but the organisation was absolutely right, and the course has enough greenery to keep you interested. It's very difficult to keep morale up when it's pouring down, but I think they managed it very well.

Well done!

In short: Great pb potential race in rather dull surroundings!
In full: This is one of those races that should definately be on a serious runners calendar. It was very well organised, and certainly a lot warmer than last year (so well done to the organisers for that!).

But sorry guys, you do have to admit... There's bugger all to see running round a disused airport. Not even any sign of the Stig !!

In short: Very well organised and well supported (considering the conditions!).
In full: Very very well done to the race organisers on this one. The weather was abismal, but still the marshalls did their very best to chivvy us along, which must have been very difficult in the driving rain.

Great to see plety of water and even bananas at the finish. Other organisers take note.

In short: Easier this year (believe it or not!). A few organisational issues, but still a great race.
In full: This is the third time I've run this as it's my local race. They changed the course this year, and I think it was (slightly) less challenging. I'm not complaining, as I beat last years time by a minute!

A couple of issues: Couldn't find the start line. Sounds silly, but I was nearer the back, so didn't know when to start my watch. Surely you don't start it when the horn goes off...

Secondly, I had to wait for nearly a minute at the road at one point. I did stop my stopwatch, so I feel like I've cheated a bit, but I didn't know what else to do.

Having said all that, the organisation was still very good, and the weather was luckily not too outrageous, so I still manged to really enjoy myself.

Thanks again for another great race.

In short: Good enough race, just not sure about the distance!
In full: Don't get me wrong, this wasn't a bad run. It just wasn't particularly stunning. The support was pretty good, and the marshalls were all very encouraging. The course wasn't anything special, with a lot of the course on a main road. The mile marking was all wrong, I think I did a 5-minute mile (very unlikely), followed by a 9 minute mile (much more likely!). Luckily the weather had cheered up by the start of the race, which made the run itself quite enjoyable. Plenty of water stops... But WHY WHY WHY don't you get a bottle of water at the end? I couldn't find any, and I think you had to give an old lady 20p for a cup of squash! It is not just this race that I have had this problem, and I wonder how long it will be before somebody collapses because of lack of fluids post-race.

Anyhow, I seem to have given this run quite a bad rap, which is unfair, as it was very friendly, and very well managed (apart from the water!). I think I'll stop now!

In short: Great race with unprecedented support throughout.
In full: I loved this race. It must rate as one of the toughest 1/2M in the country! The hill that just never ever (ever) ends! I do have a MAJOR grumble though. What was the deal when you crossed the line? You have to scramble like dogs for a cup of tea or a bit of orange. This is the first race I've ever been to where no water was handed out at the end. And no sash for your medal?? Trying to squeeze extra cash out of you is a real disappointment. That said, now i'm rehydrated, dry and warm, I will look back on this as one of the best races I've taken part in.

In short: Great course, a definate PB'er if conditions allow !
In full: Unfortunately it was a very very cold day, which I think probably spoiled the atmosphere somewhat as people weren't hanging around after the race. I felt a few more marshalls shouting encouragment would have helped.

Overall though, a good enough run, and flat enough to allow for a PB for sure.

In short: Nice race on a miserable day.
In full: Would like to have seen more marshals around the course doing some encouragement, but all-in-all a very well organised and pleasent race. Sure it would have been a lot better if the weather had been kinder!

In short: A tough tough up-hill and scary downhill monster.
In full: Could be great for those looking to improve their flat times. Certainly tested new muscles for me!
